THE FOLLOWING IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT AND MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM
Heading up to 56 with sun&clouds .

Good morning. I’m Chris Andrus in for Lauren Hall. Here’s the latest news from the SmithtownRadio.com newsroom.

America’s top nuclear official told Congress yesterday that the pool cooling spent fuel rods at the crippled Japanese nuclear complex had lost most of its water or all of its water, a potentially catastrophic situation. The Japanese quickly challenged that statement, but gave few details saying only that the situation at the holding pool was “stable.”
Nuclear Regulatory Commission Chairman Gregory said that the fuel pool at unit 4 at the Daiichi nuclear power plant had lost massive amounts of water.
Radiation levels have risen rapidly at the plant and there is a fear that the situation is heading for the worst. If levels continue to rise the doses emergency workers experience near the reactors could be lethal. One U.S. Official told ABC News that “it would be hard to describe how alarming this is right now” and that a suicide mission might not even be enough to avert disaster.
—–
Suffolk County Police have arrested a Brentwood woman for reckless endangerment after she used a barbeque grill inside her home that caused her family to suffer carbon monoxide poisoning. Third Precinct police officers rescued the family. All five were transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of carbon monoxide poisoning. Marie Claudia was later transported to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow.

It was determined that Marie Claudia was using a barbeque grill in the house for heat after the family had run out of heating oil. Marie Claudia was charged with Reckless Endangerment 2nd Degree.
—-
A joyous Friday turned into a blue Monday for dozens of applicants to the University of Delaware who, because of a computer glitch, were inaccurately told they had been accepted to the school. The mistake affected 61 applicants for undergraduate spots at Delaware, who logged on Friday afternoon to the university’s portal, My Blue Hen Home. Hirsh said that the glitch — which he blamed on “human error” — occurred Friday afternoon when all acceptance and rejection letters were sent out by regular mail and the online portal went live.

And before we go,

Jamie Diamond is reduced to tears live during TechNight's 100th episode

TechNight celebrated it's 100th episode this past weekend. TechNight can be heard on SmithtownRadio.com first live at midnight on Sundays with a replay at 7pm on Sunday evenings.

Athens, Ga (SmithtownRadio.com) – As the clock struck Sunday, September 12, 2010, Jamie Diamond welcomed listeners to TechNight, something he had done 99 times previously. TechNight, a weekly, one-hour talk radio show that prides itself on being “your weekly round-up of the digital world,” was marking its fifth anniversary with its one hundredth episode.

Diamond was sitting alongside his co-host Will Allen in the studios of WUOG, the University of Georgia’s student run radio station where the show is produced live each week, when the show began. But by the time the show ended, the studio had packed with colleagues and friends of Diamond.

Beyond a theatrical cold open marking the show’s milestone, the first half of the show rolled on as any other with Diamond and Allen discussing the week’s trending technology stories. They were joined in studio by SmithtownRadio.com’s James Brierton, who was producing the show, as well as Jake Carter, Diamond’s former co-host, and Tommy McGahee, former WUOG Operations Director and friend of Diamond’s, who both contributed via phone… or so Diamond thought.

Diamond knew something was up when McGahee entered the studio unannounced (and still on the phone) just before the first break. He was joined by WUOG’s Sean Polite who was carrying cake. Polite and Diamond co-host a music program together on the student-run station. Moments later, Diamond was virtually reduced to tears live on-air as more of his colleagues and friends joined him to celebrate the show’s milestone.

Using the opportunity of a pre-planned break and pre-recorded segment, Diamond and friends did some brief socializing and cake eating before returning to the air to wrap up the night’s program.

The entire evening was caught on tape:
