SmithtownRadio.com's Chief Forecaster Megan Russ
Whether its the unveiling of state-of-the-art science or a hurricane making landfall, you can bet Megan Russ is there – putting in 110%.
Russ was originally recruited from the Smithtown High School East radio club because of her passion and professional desire towards radio. Russ’ science interests drove her to the Weather Center where her forecasts have become a brand of their own.
Russ is an original co-host of SmithtownRadio.com Live and continues to contribute to the station’s breaking weather coverage.
Russ’ reporter’s notebook includes reporting on severe weather and the 2008 presidential campaign. She was live from Long Island’s oceanfront as Tropical Storm Hanna came ashore in 2008. Russ was also reporting for SmithtownRadio.com in October of 2008 from the presidential debate at Long Island’s Hofstra University when an angry mob of protesters began running towards her reporting position. Russ had to dodge the crowd, which was retreating after making advances on a police barricade.
Russ is currently studying physics at New York’s SUNY Geneseo.
