About Mamie

Shepherd is a student at the University of Georgia pursuing a degree in Digital & Broadcast Journalism at the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication. Prior to living in Georgia, Shepherd lived in Texas and worked for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram newspaper as a writer for Class Acts. She made a number of appearances on KDFW Fox 4 Dallas and in features for the Star-Telegram newspaper. Upon moving to the Big Peach, Shepherd became a spokesmodel for Pure Fashion, an international faith-based modeling program, and was one of Seventeen Magazine’s “Best Dressed Girls In America” in 2007. In early 2010, Shepherd joined the staff of UGA NewSource, in Athens, as a news manager in the broadcasting division. She started with SmithtownRadio.com on the morning show in 2010, and in January 2012 debuted as the host for "Mamie in the Morning." Shepherd has worked as an intern for WSTR STAR 94 FM in Atlanta, CollegeFashionista.com, and is a current broadcast intern for the Ryan Seacrest Foundation. She is a member of the Alliance For Women In Media, Di Gamma Kappa broadcasting society, Society for Professional Journalists, The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, and The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. Shepherd was awarded the WSB Radio Award in 2011 for her community service work in radio. She served as a student judge for the 71st Annual Peabody Awards held at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City.
