About
Whether at home, at work, away at school or on vacation, SmithtownRadio.com will keep you entertained and informed.
SmithtownRadio.com is a revolutionary online radio station broadcasting commercial free music, news and weather from Boston, MA; New York State; Washington, D.C.; Atlanta, Ga; and everywhere in-between. Content is broadcast through the station’s Web site, its own BlackBerry app and via the ShoutCast app for iPhones and iTouches.
The station’s all-volunteer staff host a variety of programs covering a vast spectrum of interests – from music, to news, to sports, to technology and more. In the field reporters from the station’s bureaus cover news as it happens from up and down the the United State’s east coast. Bureaus contribute to top of the hour news updates and bottom of the hour checks of Megan Russ’ SmithtownRadio.com Weather Center forecast.
Owned by the QuickNews Media Group, the station was originally created by James Brierton and Steven Greco in 2003 as an online radio station for the media group’s Web site. In 2005, the media group partnered with the Smithtown Central School District on New York’s Long Island to create the official radio station of Smithtown High School East. The station was rebranded and hired new staff. In 2010, the partnership ended and the QuickNews Media Group “graduated” the station up and down the east coast to keep up with the demand of the now college-bound high school audience. Pick up new listeners along the way. With a relaunch on February 14, 2010, the station launched new national content, a new Web site and introduced new on-air personalities. The station kept many of its previous staff and station name.
Listeners are encouraged to interact with the station and its personalities through e-mail, Facebook, Twitter and phone.
