Cops: traffic lights inoperable due to storm

Commack, NY (SmithtownRadio.com) – Two West Babylon brothers are in serious condition after a crash Tuesday in Commack following Hurricane Sandy.

At approximately 5:10 p.m., Jenna Concolino, 18, of Centereach, was driving a 1994 Plymouth Voyager northbound on Moreland Road when her vehicle was struck by a 1983 Cadillac  traveling westbound on Motor Parkway, Suffolk police say.  The voyager then hit a 2003 Jeep which was driven by Michael Henry, 27, of Commack.  The Jeep was southbound on Moreland Road and attempting to turn onto Motor Parkway when the vehicle was struck.

Passengers in the Voyager, Tyler Smith, 18, and his brother, Sean Smith, 19, were transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, where they were listed in serious condition.  The driver of the Cadillac, Daniel Kleeman, 18, of Commack, Concolino and Henry, suffered minor non-life-threatening injurie and were treated at local hospitals and released.

At the time of the crash, traffic lights were not working because of power outages caused by Hurricane Sandy.

The investigation is continuing and the vehicles were impounded for safety checks.
