LIRR service restored

St. James, NY (SmithtownRadio.com) – LIRR service through St. James has been restored after a man was fatally struck by a train Tuesday afternoon.

The man, whose name has not been released, was struck by the 11:50 a.m. train from Huntington due into Port Jefferson at 12:37 p.m. The incident happened around 12:30 p.m.

Train service through St. James was suspended while MTA police conducted an investigation. Service was restored prior to the evening rush hour.

MTA Police have not released the name of the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
