Photos, videos from Hofstra’s 2008 presidential debate

Hempstead, NY (SmithtownRadio.com) – Hofstra University in Hempstead will again play host to a presidential debate before November’s general election.

SmithtownRadio.com was outside the venue in 2008 when then-Senators Barack Obama and John McCain debated in what was their third and final debate. Tuesday’s meeting of Obama and Governor Mitt Romney will be the second of three presidential debates.

SmithtownRadio.com’s James Brierton and Amanda Boitano caught up with protesters outside the debate hall in 2008 to find out what was on their minds:

This year’s debate will have added security now that one of the candidates is a standing president. In 2008, SmithtownRadio.com’s Dean Laurence caught video of protesters outside the venue trying to push their way into a restriction area of the campus only to be stopped by the Nassau County Police Department:

Brierton, Boitano and Laurence – along with Megan Russ – broadcast live from outside the debate hall in 2008. Clips from that show were included in this 2008 Election montage between 1:30 and 4:00.
