Nesconset man arrested for leaving scene of Rt. 347 crash
Hauppauge, NY (SmithtownRadio.com) – A Nesconset man has been arrested following a fatal hit and run on Route 347 in Hauppauge early Saturday morning.
At 4:45 a.m, Thomas Wik Jr. was walking eastbound on Route 347 west of South Plaisted Avenue, when he was struck by a 2006 Honda driven by Craig Williams. Williams left the scene of the crash and was arrested a short time later by police.
Wik Jr., 23, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.
Fourth Squad detectives charged Williams, 38, of Nesconset, with Leaving the Scene of an Accident. He was arraigned Sunday morning at First District Court in Central Islip.
