Nesconset, NY (SmithtownRadio.com) – Suffolk police arson detectives are working to determine the cause of a Nesconset fire that destroyed a home Saturday night.
A neighbor called 911 just before 10 p.m. to report flames were shooting through the roof of 33 Galahad Lane. Initial reports indicated someone may have been trapped in the home and responding personnel searched the burning structure. No one was home at the time of the fire.
The Nesconset Fire Department did not return a request for comment and the Suffolk County Police Department Arson Squad would only say the cause of the fire was still under investigation.
Several firefighters were treated on-scene for smoke inhalation. The Centereach, Lakeland and Ronkonkoma fire departments assisted on-scene Saturday night while crews from the St. Jame and Smithtown fire departments prepared to cover other emergency calls in the Nesconset-area if needed.
