Cold front brings storms; cooler, less humid days

Smithtown, NY (SmithtownRadio.com) – Cooler temperatures are here after a Saturday of strong-to-severe weather across much of the tri-state.
The Storm Prediction Center, which monitors severe weather nationwide for the National Weather Service, included a 10% chance of seeing a tornado Saturday for Smithtown. With that came a Tornado Watch.
By midday storms popped up to the north and west of New York City with the expectation of seeing a line of storms across Long Island Saturday evening.
No tornados touched down on Long Island but two separate tornados brought about damage in New York City. No injuries were reported.

After the storms Saturday, a cooler air mass brought lower temperatures and provided much need relief to recent humid days. Lows for Monday and Tuesday night are expected to drop into the mid-50s, some of the coolest temperatures we’ve seen in months.
