Mastic, NY (SmithtownRadio.com) – Suffolk County Police Seventh Squad detectives are investigating a single-car crash that killed a Mastic man early Wednesday morning.

Peter Gerena was driving a 1994 Infiniti northbound on William Floyd Parkway, north of Whiskey Road, in Shoreham when his vehicle left the roadway and struck two trees at 5:50 a.m., police say. Gerena, 35, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752.
