West Babylon, NY (SmithtownRadio.com) – Suffolk County Police Department Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the death of a man shot in West Babylon early Sunday morning.

Suffolk County Police were called to 568 Centerwood Street after multiple 911 callers reported hearing gunshots and finding a man lying in the street, police say. When officers arrived they found Rashad Capers lying in the roadway. He had been shot a short distance away in front of 25 St. Johns Place, according to police.

Capers, 18, of West Babylon, was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where he succumbed to his injuries.
