Eastport, NY (SmithtownRadio.com) – Suffolk County Police arrested a Central Islip school teacher Tuesday night for driving while intoxicated and resisting arrest.
At 11:20 p.m., Seventh Precinct patrol officers were called to the Triangle Pub, located on Old Montauk Highway in Eastport, after Jay Candrill refused to leave the bar. Bar employees told police Condrill had been asked to leave the premises after acting unruly. He initially complied but then returned to the bar, police say.
Police Officers Timothy Benson and Scott Jensen first observed Condrill exiting his vehicle. Police say the man appeared intoxicated at the time. When they attempted to place him under arrest, Condrill threatened to physically harm the officers and he refused orders to place his hands behind his back, police say. The officers were forced to use physical force and ultimately had to deploy a taser in order to take him into custody.
Condrill, who is employed as a teacher in the Central Islip School District, was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Disorderly Conduct and Resisting Arrest.
Condrill, 47, of Eastport, was transported to the Seventh Precinct for processing and then he transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue for a routine departmental checkup after the use of a taser.
