Islip, NY (SmithtownRadio.com) – A pilot was escorted by fighter jets to MacArthur Airport in Islip Monday after violating a presidential no- fly zone.
NORAD dispatched two F-15 fighter jets to intercept and escort the plane after it entered into restricted air space. Portions of the tri-state’s airspace was temporarily closed while President Barack Obama landed at John F. Kennedy International Airport for a fundraiser in Connecticut.
The plane, with only the pilot on-board, was escorted to Long Island MacArthur Airport without further incident.
