Acid spill at Suffolk police crime lab
Smithtown, NY (SmithtownRadio.com) – Hazmat crews were called to the Suffolk County Police Department Crime Laboratory in Smithtown Monday following a spill of a hazardous acid.
About a quart of the explosive acid picric was spilled, a fire department source tells SmithtownRadio.com. The building was evacuated but residents were allowed to stay in nearby homes.
The scene was eventually turned over to the Suffolk County Police Department Emergency Services unit.
