Evening News Update
Good evening. I’m James Brierton. Here’s the latest from the SmithtownRadio.com newsroom
5 animals died, another 70 rescued from a pet shop on Main Street in Smithtown this afternoon. Fire crews were called to what appears to be a second floor apartment above Pick of the Litter pet shop around noon. Five dogs that were on the second floor when the fire started expire. Another 70 were taken onto the street and into a neighboring side alley from the store’s display room below. A 20-year-male who found the fire and called 911 was taken to St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center to be checked out. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Suffolk County Animal Control has possession of most of the animals.
