From the SmithtownRadio newsroom, Good morning, alongside James Brierton, I’m Jamie Diamond.
[SOT] A little after 1 this morning in Aurora, Colorado, at a
midnight showing of THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, a heavily armed gunman
walked into the theater, tossed tear gas, and then began to fire
his weapon INTO the audience. As of 9 o’clock this morning, 12
are dead, 38 others are wounded.
Police arrested a suspect behind the theater who was a local
Aurora resident his mid-20s.
FBI spokesman Jason Pack said it did not appear the shooting was
related to terrorism.
President Barack Obama said he and first lady were “shocked and
saddened” by the shooting and pledged the administration’s
support for the victims.
In a statement, he said, “As we do when confronted by moments of
darkness and challenge, we must now come together as one American
family.” A moviegoer who was in an adjacent theater during the shooting, uploaded video of the scene to YouTube. [SOT]
