Kings Park, NY (SmithtownRadio.com) – After a month-long delay, the demolition of 15 structures on the grounds of the former Kings Park Psychiatric Center is about ready to start, a state parks official tells SmithtownRadio.com.

The Indiana-based National Salvage and Service Corporation is expected to start the $6.4 million project before the end of the month, according to the New York State Office of Parks and Recreation and Historical Preservation. The delay pushes the expected completion date from spring of 2013 to November of that year.

The demolition of the 15 structures is the “first stage” of two stages that will occur at the Kings Park Psychiatric Center area, no date has been given to when the second stage will begin.
