Melville, NY (SmithtownRadio.com) – Suffolk police have arrested a man for transporting fireworks in his vehicle Tuesday evening.

Second Precinct Crime Section officers were on patrol in the Melville area when they stopped William C. Legette III for failing to signal before making a turn in front of the officers’ vehicle on Walt Whitman Road and Paumonauk Hills Court at 7:50 p.m. The officers observed that Legette’s vehicle, a 2007 Saturn Vue, contained numerous types of fireworks.

Legette, 40, was arrested and charged with Unlawfully Dealing with Fireworks, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 2nd Degree and numerous traffic violations. Legette, of Melville, is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday at First District Court in Central Islip.
