Bay Shore, NY (SmithtownRadio.com) – Police arrested a teen after he jumped from a stolen car and lead them on a foot chase through Bay Shore Tuesday morning.

Third Precinct Patrol Officer Christopher Coyne attempted to pull over a stolen 1995 Nissan Maxima on Montauk Highway in Bay Shore at 3:38 a.m.. All five occupants jumped out of the moving vehicle and ran north on Penataquit Avenue. Officer Coyne managed to stop the Maxima, put it in park, and caught up to three female passengers who had fled the vehicle. The officer broadcast a description over the radio of the driver and another male passenger who fled on foot. Patrol and Canine officers searched the area and Third Precinct Patrol Officer Edward Rose located Demorne Jack, who was identified as the driver of the Maxima.

Third Squad detectives charged Jack, 17, of Central Islip, with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property and Reckless Endangerment. Jack will be held overnight at the Third Precinct and is scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on July 4.-
