In news that probably shocked absolutely no one, CNN anchor Anderson Cooper came out as a gay man yesterday. Cooper’s outing came in an article on the Daily Beast written by his friend, Andrew Sullivan. Sullivan writes in the article that he asked Cooper to weigh in on a recent Entertainment Weekly piece that examined the trend of gay people coming out in a “More matter-of-fact way” than in the past. In an e-mail response, Cooper writes that he’s thought about the topic over the years, and has decided to be clear about the fact that he is gay. This comes after years of speculation over his sexuality, and Cooper said he never tried to hide it, he just, as a journalist, never wanted to be the story, just report them.
