Runaway horse located inside Smithtown park

Smithtown, NY (SmithtownRadio.com) – A wild ride for a Massapequa woman at Blydenburgh Park in Smithtown Monday.

The 55-year-old fell from her horse around 1:15 p.m. inside the county park, located between Veteran’s Memorial Highway and Jericho Turnpike. The horse took off after the incident.

After locating the animal, police returned the animal to the owner’s friends. Officers returned to the woods to locate the missing rider.

The woman, whose name has not been released, was found injured along the path. Personnel from the Smithtown Fire Department transported her to Stony Brook University Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
