Morning News Update
Good morning. I’m James Brierton. It’s Thursday, June 28.
For the first time is 37 years, Ed Ehmann is not getting up for work today. Rather the now-retired superintendent of Smithtown schools is preparing to go on vacation with his wife. Ehmann administrated his last Board of Education meeting Tuesday before packing up his desk yesterday. We sat down for an extended interview with Ehmann and will have it for you tomorrow on SmithtownRadio.com.

Not a single resident spoke in a favor of building a Sonic Drive-in restaurant in Nesconset during a packed town public hearing on the matter Tuesday. All and all residents voiced concerns about increased traffic and safety at the proposed Middle Country Road site. Developers need to get special permission from the town to build the restaurant because the town does not allow outdoor dining. The town is expected to continue the conversation behind closed doors before a discussion is made public.
