Yankees hold off the Cleveland Indians late comeback for a 6-4 win. They got off to a great start with a three run second inning and Alex Rodriguez put them up 5-0 with a solo shot in the seventh. Even with a large six run lead and the Indians down to their final three outs, Cleveland scored four runs in the top of the ninth highlighted by a three run blast from Jose Lopez. Their late effort was not enough though as the Yankees held on for the win.

Series finale is this afternoon at 1:05 on YES.

Mets losing streak reaches four as they fall to the Chicago Cubs 5-3 in Wrigley. Their early lead, up 2-0 in the top of the second, was quickly erased by the Cubs offense. David Gee surrendered four runs in five innings and the Mets offense was unable to regain the lead.

The Mets wrap up their Chitown series this afternoon at 2:20 on SNY before heading out to the SoCal.

Finally the moment college football fans have been waiting for. A committee of university presidents has finalized a four team playoff for Division 1 football. The new format will go in to effect beginning in the 2014 season. Under the plan the semifinal games will consist of the number one and fourth ranked teams and the number two and third ranked teams meeting in the current BCS bowls, on a rotating basis. The winner of those matchups will meet in a championship game that will be played in a city awarded to the highest bidder and not necessarily to a current BCS Bowl.
