North Amityville, NY (SmithtownRadio.com) – Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured the 15-year-old driver of a mini dirt bike Saturday evening.

Esteban Rodriguez-Ynoa, 29, was driving a 2007 Honda CRV southbound on Great Neck Road when the driver of a mini bike entered the roadway near Avon Drive in North Amityville, police say.  The driver of the bike, Davonte Robinson, 15, who was attempting to cross Great Neck Road, was struck by the CRV at approximately 5:40 p.m.

Robinson, of Copiague, sustained fractures on both legs and was transported via Suffolk County Police Helicopter to Stony Brook University Medical Center where he was listed in stable condition.  Rodriguez-Ynoa, of Syosset, and three passengers in his vehicle were not injured.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing.

Detectives ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
