Great South Bay waterway (SmithtownRadio.com) – The body of a missing boat passenger has been recovered in the Great South Bay after a boating crash Saturday morning.

After a 9 hour search, police recovered the body of Christopher Mannino, 39, of West Islip, in the Great South Bay at 1:30 p.m. Mannino was tossed overboard around 4:30 a.m. when the 1967 38-foot Hatteras he was riding on was hit by another boat under the Robert Moses Causeway bridge.

Police have charged Brian Andreski, 26, of Dix Hills, with Boating While Intoxicated after he crashed his 25-foot Skater into the Hatteras. Andreski and his passenger, whose name was not released, were taken to the area hospital after being tossed from their boat. The driver has been issued a ticket to appear in court at a later d ate.

An autopsy will be conducted by the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner to determine the cause of Mannino’s death.

Third Squad detectives with the assistance from the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office are investigating the crash. Anyone with information is asked to call the Third Squad at 631-854-8352 or Suffolk County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
