Lindenhurst, NY (SmithtownRadio.com) – Suffolk police are increasing patrols through Lindenhurst, Deer Park, West Babylon and North Babylon after a string of recent break-ins.

These burglaries occurred during the last two months and in most instances transpired while residents were asleep, police say.  On a few occasions, the residents awoke and the suspect or suspects fled.

“No residents have been injured,” a police spokesperson says.

The Suffolk County Police Department is advising residents of these communities to be extra vigilant in ensuring that all doors and windows are securely closed and home alarm systems activated.  Extra marked and unmarked patrol units have been deployed in the area.  Residents are advised to call 911 immediately to report any suspicious circumstances, vehicles or individuals.

First Squad detectives are asking anyone with information to call them at 631-854-8152 or to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
