Morning News Update
Good morning and happy summer. I’m James Brierton.
And what a way to start off summer. Patchy fog this morning burns off leaving us with mostly sunny skies and a high of 93 this afternoon. And in case you thought that wasn’t bad, we’ll be at 97 tomorrow afternoon. The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for New York City and areas north and west. For Smithtown, only an air quality alert in effect. The very young, the elderly and those with pre-existing respiratory problems should practice caution when outside for long periods of time today.

In other news, the democratic-controlled Suffolk County Legislature voted yesterday to divide representation up in Hauppauge. Currently all residents – regardless of living in Smithtown or Islip – are in John M. Kennedy, Jr.’s District Twelve. The Islip residents now move to District Ten and Tom Cilmi.

In your forecast: Our early summer heat wave drops back into the uppers 80s by Friday. But until then, we’ll be watching the record books for today and tomorrow.
