Police release surveillance images of theft in progress
Smithtown, NY (SmithtownRadio.com) – Suffolk county police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man seen stealing an off-road, recreational vehicle from a Smithtown home Monday.
Around 8:45 p.m., the man walked up the driveway of a home on White Spruce Circle and rolled the ATV down to the street, police say. He then loaded it into an awaiting vehicle.
The suspect is described as a dark-skinned man with short black hair. He was wearing a gray sweatshirt and baggy jeans. The vehicle was a 1995-1999 dark-colored GMC Jimmy or Chevy S10 Blazer with no hub caps.
Suffolk County Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
Police did not provide the address of the home.
