Students talk new breathalyzer during pre-prom festivities
Smithtown, NY (SmithtownRadio.com) – Students who spoke to SmithtownRadio.com before the Smithtown High School East prom Saturday say the district’s new policy allowing district officials to breathalyze will not affect their special night.
“It’s not going to affect me personally, and I think it’s a great idea,” says Despina Bubaris, a senior at Smithtown High School East. “People should be responsible for the actions that they take.”
Last month, the Smithtown Central School District Board of Education adopted a policy that would allow district officials to breathalyze students suspected of consuming alcohol before or during a school day or school event.
