Holbrook, NY (SmithtownRadio.com) – Suffolk County Police Fifth Squad detectives are investigating a crash that killed a 49-year-old man in Holbrook Friday afternoon.

Rosemarie Volonino was traveling southbound on Patchogue-Holbroko Road around 12:15 p.m. when she struck a 2004 Saturn, which was making a left hand turn across the southbound lanes.

Volonino, 72, of Holtsville, and the driver of the Saturn, Marilyn Hunter, 72, also of Holtsville, was taken to Brookhaven Memorial Medical Center in East Patchogue with injuries. Suffolk police could not provide details on their injuries. .

Steven Hunter, 49, of Holtsville, who was sitting in the front passenger seat of the Saturn, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

The vehicles were was impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
