Two NYPD officers from Smithtown area injured in shoot-out

Smithtown, NY (SmithtownRadio.com) – Two New York City Police Department officers from Smithtown and Nesconset are recovering from gunshot wounds sustained during a shootout in Brooklyn Saturday night.

Captain Al Pizzano, 45, of Smithtown, and Matthew Granahan, 35, of Nesconset, along with two other officers got into a shootout with a suspect holding his girlfriend hostage in a Sheepshead Bay, Newsday reports. The suspect, Nakwon Foxworth, 33, is in serious condition.

Both officers were treated and released from Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn.
