Santos Salvala works for a Nesconset-based landscaping company

Nesconset, NY (SmithtownRadio.com) - An employee for a Nesconset landscaping company has been arrested for driving without a legally required interlock device.

Santos Zavala, 48, of Central Islip, was also driving with a revoked license when he was stopped yesterday in Brentwood as a part of a commercial truck inspection, police say. He was driving a 2003 Chevrolet dump truck registered to Syrbescapes.

Zavala had been convicted of driving while intoxicated in September and was required to have the alcohol detecting device in his car.

He has been charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of Motor Vehicle 2nd Degree and Operating a Motor Vehicle without a Required Interlock Device.  He was also issued five citations for equipment violations.

The truck was taken out of service.
