West Babylon, NY (SmithtownRadio.com) – Suffolk County Police Major Case Investigations Unit detectives are investigating a robbery that occurred Saturday at the Roslyn Savings Bank branch in West Babylon.

A man entered the bank, located at 653 Montauk Highway, at 11:09 a.m. and handed a teller a note threatening violence and demanding cash, police say. The teller complied and gave the man cash from the drawer. The man fled on foot and headed north through the bank parking lot.

The robber was described as white, in his 20s, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a thin build, brown hair and a chin strap beard. He was wearing a red baseball hat, dark sunglasses, white-hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.

Detectives are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
