Kieran Smith car broke down, was walking to get assistance
Brentwood, NY (SmithtownRadio.com) – A Kings Park man was struck and killed Sunday morning in a hit-and-run crash as he walked to get help with his disabled vehicle.
Kieran Smith, 21, was driving his 2008 Nissan eastbound on the Long Island Expressway when his vehicle became disabled just east of the Sagtikos Parkway, police say. Smith left his vehicle and was walking on the service road when he was apparently struck and killed by a vehicle, which fled the scene.
A passing motorist discovered Smith’s body on the shoulder and called police at 7:45 a.m.
Earleir this month, Aaron Thomas, 24, of Amityville, was fatally struck along the LIE in Commack as he walked back to his disabled vehicle. Police did not press chargers against the driver.
