Bay Shore, NY (SmithtownRadio.com) – Suffolk County Police arrested a West Islip man Wednesday for impersonating a federal agent while attempting to pull over a vehicle last month.

A driver reported to police that while he was traveling on Fifth Avenue and Brook Avenue in Bay Shore on February 29 a man driving a Jeep Cherokee activated a red strobe light and attempted to pull him over.  The driver of the Jeep pulled along side the victim’s vehicle at a traffic light and identified himself as a federal agent but fled when the victim asked for identification.

Following an investigation by Third Precinct Crime Section, Shaun Coppola, 24, of West Islip, was arrested and charged with Criminal Impersonation 2nd Degree.
