Bay Shore, NY (SmithtownRadio.com) – It’s true what they say: never return to the scene of the crime.
A Bay Shore man has been arrested after he burglarized a Bay Shore laundromat for the second time this year.
Third Precinct Patrol officers responded to a 911 call at Dirt Buster Laundry, located at 1209 Sunrise Highway Service Road, in Bay Shore. Upon arrival, Officer Libby Traylor observed a man exiting the business and running across the Sunrise Highway service road. Officer Traylor broadcast a description of the suspect and responding officers set up a perimeter.
Officers Daniel Curci and Stephen Keeley, with assistance from Canine Unit Officer Mark Sacco, located and arrested the suspect, James Maxwell, at approximately 5:35 a.m.
Further investigations by Third Squad detectives revealed that Maxwell was also responsible for burglarizing the same laundry business in January and four other Bay Shore businesses in February. Detectives charged Maxwell, 22, with six counts of Burglary 3rd Degree.
The investigation is continuing. Maxwell will be held overnight and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on March 5.
