After reports were released saying Sacha Baron Cohen was banned from this year’s Oscars, an Academy spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter “We haven’t banned him. We’re just waiting to hear what he’s going to do.” Cohen has said he wants to show up at the awards ceremony dressed as his character General Aladeen as a promotion for his new movie The Dictator. The Academy spokesperson said, “We don’t think it’s appropriate. But his tickets have not been pulled. We’re waiting to hear back.”
