West Babylon, NY (SmithtownRadio.com) – Nearly two doezen bronze vases stolen from a Farmingdale cemetery have been recovered.

Acting on information received from First Precinct Community Oriented Police Enforcement (COPE) Officer Joseph Russo, First Squad detectives located the vases at the West Babylon residence of Shaun Dosch on Saturday.

Detectives believe Dosch took the 22  vases from Pinelawn Memorial Park over the course of several months with the intention of melting down the items to sell for the scrap value of the metallic content. The estimated value of the property exceeds $7,000.

Dosch, 26, was charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 5th Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree. He is scheduled to be arraigned today at First District Court in Central Islip.

The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this case to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
