Ronkonkoma, NY (SmithtownRadio.com) – Suffolk County Police Major Case Investigations Unit detectives are investigating a bank robbery that occurred Saturday at a Capital One bank branch in Ronkonkoma.

A man entered the bank, located at 131 Portion Road, at 1:58 p.m. and showed a teller a note that demanded cash which indicated a threat if the teller did not comply, police say. The teller complied with the man’s demands and gave him cash. The man fled on foot and headed east towards the Kohl’s Department Store.

The man was described as white or Hispanic, between 5 feet 6 inches tall to 5 feet 8 inches tall, in his 20s. He was wearing a classic Yankees hat, a dark windbreaker and sunglasses.

Detectives are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
