Holtsville, NY (SmithtownRadio.com) – Suffolk County Police arrested a Holtsville man for driving while intoxicated after he was involved in a motor vehicle crash in which both he and his passenger were seriously injured.

Robert McDowell was driving his 2005 Nissan south on Blue Point Road, just north of Buckley Road, Sunday at 4:30 a.m. when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a pole. McDowell’s passenger, Courtney Lester, was ejected from the vehicle.

Lester, 21, and McDowell, 24, were transported by Holtsville Fire Department to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue for treatment of serious injuries.

McDowell was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 1st Degree. He will be arraigned at a later date.

The Nissan was impounded and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.

    i saw that car it detourted me all the way to sunrise i couldnt get to the lie , all i kept saying is i hope they made it out i knew it was a drunk driver this has got to stop If you must drive dont drink.
