The Town of Smithtown is deciding whether or not to consider adopting recommendations made in a grand jury report released earlier this week, according to Newsday. The 42-page report recommended tougher violations for town code violations, strengthening ethics rules and creating an independent board to review site planning. While no names were named in the report, the investigation is reported to have centered around a former lumber yard on Main Street.

The Kings Park School has been able to negotiate a deal with Suffolk Wireless Communication to share profit from a proposed cell phone tower. Patch reports the tower could be installed on the grounds of the administration building to serve an area currently struggling with cell reception.

Town of Smithtown Highway Superintendent Glenn Jorgensen will talk winter preparations and road maintenance at a meeting of the Kings Park Civic Association. It meets at 7:30p in the community room of Kings Park High School.
