Washington, DC (SmithtownRadio.com) – The Onion is known as being the leader in satirical news but did the fake news organization go to far Thursday when they posted a story about a made-up hostage situation in the Capital Building in Washington, D.C.

A series of tweets, videos and articles related to school child being held hostage by members of Congress came a day after a Massachusetts man was actually arrested for plotting attacks on such landmarks in the nation’s capital.

The purpose of the Onion story was to shine light on what the Onion sees as a Congress holding the legislative process hostage.

The story included computer-generated images, such as the one on the left.

Your Thought: The Onion has the first amendment right to publish such content but is such content distasteful?
