Today marks a major anniversary in our country’s history. Who will ever forget where they were and what they were doing when news first broke of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001! 10 years later, we are a different country and a different world. Many Americans are still left in unbelievable shock and fear as the 10 year anniversary of 9/11 approaches.
Ceremonies will take place at Ground Zero, and around the country, to memorialize the lives of those we loved and lost that day.
Many have no idea who the first responders to the scene were on that fateful Tuesday morning.
Along with police, fire fighters, and emergency personnel, brave men and women of the United States military selflessly flew into action at the scene of the attacks while thousands of people fled for their lives. Along with officers and enlisted military personnel, some of the students at our prestigious US Military Academies suited up and joined forces to help rescue efforts.
Their valor and courage are to be remembered and commended as we reflect on the anniversary of a day that forever changed life in America.
