Shirley, NY (SmithtownRadio.com) – Suffolk County Police have arrested a Moriches man for stealing $4,000 from a victim in a home improvement scam and for operating a business with a revoked license.
David Ricci, 43, was arrested after detectives from the Identity Theft Unit investigated a complaint by a homeowner who lived in Brookhaven. The victim told police that he paid Ricci $4,000 in April 2010 to repair a roof on his residence. Ricci took the money but never began the roof repair. A police investigation revealed that Ricci does not have a valid home improvement license as required by law in Suffolk County.
Ricci previously possessed a home improvement license under the company name Competitive Concrete but that license was revoked in 1989. Ricci has been conducting business under the company name, Ricci Services Ltd., a business which registered articles of dissolution with the state of New York in January 2010.
Ricci, of 5-2 Mirror Lane, Moriches, was arrested at the Seventh Precinct where he was charged with Performing Home Improvements Without a License and Grand Larceny 3rd Degree. He will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on February 19.
Detectives are continuing the investigation and ask anyone who may have been victims of Ricci to contact the Identity Theft Unit at 631-852-6821.
