West Babylon, NY (SmithtownRadio.com) – Suffolk County Police have arrested a Copiague man after he fled from police and crashed his car into a marked police vehicle early this morning.

Robert Wilcox was driving his 2002 Sentra southbound on Route 109 in West Babylon at approximately 2:20 a.m. when he fled after a police officer attempted to stop the Sentra for a vehicle and traffic violation. Wilcox crashed into a marked police vehicle at Arnold Avenue and Learner Street and continued driving to Cord Avenue, where he abandoned his car and fled on foot. Wilcox was found and arrested at approximately 2:40 a.m. on Woodbridge Court with assistance from the Canine Section.

Wilcox, 20, of 30 32nd St., Copiague, was charged with Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree, Unlawfully Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle and Reckless Driving. Wilcox is scheduled for arraignment today at First District Court in Central Islip.
