North Amityville, NY (SmithtownRadio.com) – Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating a shooting that killed a man in North Amityville this afternoon.

Police responded to a 911 call reporting that a man had been shot in front of 24 Andpress Plaza at approximately 12:20 p.m. When police arrived, they discovered Ronnie Woolridge, 25, had been shot once in the neck.

Woolridge, of 57 Nicolls Road, Wheatley Heights, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, where he was later pronounced dead.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on this incident to contact the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
