Deer Park, NY (SmithtownRadio.com) – Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating an ATV crash that seriously injured a 17-year-old Deer Park man this evening.

Darrell Waite was operating a 2000 Yamaha quad runner southbound on Little East Neck Road at approximately 6:30 p.m. when he attempted to make a left hand turn onto Garden City Avenue in Wyandanch. Waite, 17, of 61 Suburban Ave., apparently lost control of the ATV and struck a utility pole on the northeast corner of Little East Neck Road and Garden City Avenue.

Waite was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where he is listed in critical condition.

The Yamaha was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information regarding this crash to contact the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
